Description:
- To promote design talent cultivation and industry-academia collaboration and exchange, the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, is organizing the 2026–2027 13th Young Designers’ Industry-Academia Collaboration Competition, implemented by our institute. Enterprises and public-sector organizations are invited to propose real industry issues, adopting a model in which enterprises pose challenges and students provide solutions, thereby promoting the alignment of design innovation with industry needs.
- Submissions for this year’s competition will be accepted until October 28, 2026. The total prize money amounts to NT$1.87 million, and no registration fee is required. In addition to students from design-related departments, current students from different professional backgrounds are also welcome to form cross-school, cross-department, and cross-disciplinary teams. Your university’s assistance in widely disseminating this information and encouraging students to form teams, submit proposals, and compete for awards is kindly requested.
- This year, a total of eight enterprises and public-sector organizations have been invited to participate in proposing challenge topics, including Tai-Hwa Precision Technology Co., Ltd.; Yamaha Motor Research & Development Taiwan Co., Ltd. (YMRT); Taiwan Bosch Comfort Technologies Co., Ltd. (Hitachi Air Conditioning); Yi Liang Co., Ltd.; Sunpak Corporation Taiwan Branch; Caesar Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd.; Ching Seng Tong Cosmetics Co., Ltd.; and Pingtung County Government. They have proposed eight major challenge topics covering mobility, education, circularity, health, technology, entertainment, locality, and space. Student teams are invited to submit innovative and practical design proposals in response to real industry needs.
- This project is conducted through a competition-based call for submissions. Each challenge topic includes awards and prize money. Selected teams may subsequently participate in enterprise mentoring, design exchanges, and industry-academia collaboration-related activities to further develop their proposal outcomes and gain practical industry experience.
- Eligibility and participation methods are as follows:
(1) Current students, including master’s and doctoral students, from domestic design-related departments, design-related bachelor’s degree programs, or design-related departments of junior colleges, as well as current students whose departments participate in the 2027 Young Designers’ Exhibition, are eligible to register.
(2) Participants may register individually or as a team. Each team may have up to six members. Cross-school, cross-department, and cross-disciplinary teams may be formed according to proposal needs. Cross-disciplinary teams are not restricted by the requirement of design-related department eligibility; however, it is recommended that each team include at least one member from a design-related department.
(3) Cross-disciplinary members refer to students enrolled in formal degree programs in non-design-related departments, including double majors but excluding minors, such as students from information management, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and other departments.
(4) There is no limit to the number of submissions for the same or different challenge topics.
(5) No registration fee is required.
